I was asked to do a commission for a friend. Then she requested it be her beloved aspens…A long discussion ensued about how I was an abstractionist and didn’t really do “aspens”, especially “aspens by a lake with little flowers”. Her wise advice was “do your best”. I struggled at first and then found a real language I could relate to in these pieces. I often return to them in the Winter when possibly dreaming of Summer.
